The genie is perhaps the most famous fantasy character in the Arab world. We associate them with The Book of 1001 Nights, the Aladdin fairy tale, or even video games. The genie has made its presence felt very strongly in culture, religion (and mainly in pre-Muslim beliefs) and even in the language through the formation of certain words. What are they then? What makes them different?
On the one hand, the genie is a fantastic figure, and on the other hand, you can find evidence of his existence in the Koran, poetry, literature, legends, legends, and other sources. For this reason, the rise of the genies is not clearly explained, although it is assumed to have occurred before the rise of man. جن arose from a pure flame and a cloud of steam, or from the fire itself, or from a burning fire. Fire is the same to a genie as is clay to man in Greek mythology. Other similarities between the human and the genie can be found in many places. Both characters are characterized by free will, reason and awareness, and the ability to have children. جن is also a mortal being, but lives far longer than humans.
Genies are characters full of contrasts. On the one hand, they move very quickly, they can move from place to place, they soar quickly into heaven and they know how to build temples and palaces. On the other hand, they cannot pray, work miracles, or open closed doors. Contrast is also in the faith of the genies. All of them should obey Sharia law, but some are unbelievers. Then they avoid prayer, Ramadan and fear the Surah Al-baqara. By saying it and basmala, you can scare the genie away. Another defense against جن were special amulets, rings or simply iron. Kahin spells could also help.
