Ghouls are evil spirits, bad superstition. They are descended from the prince of darkness, the evil angel of Islam. Prophet Muhammad did not recognize their existence, but some hadith mentions how to banish them.

Ghouls are dog-like and hairy, with donkey's hooves being their hallmark. People who saw the Ghoul said she was female, but actually kept changing her form. They were responsible for disappearances of people, diseases and disappearing coins. Legends tell about people who, due to their evil nature, turned themselves into a ghoul.

This evil spirit rides dogs or hares and moves at night. It lives in abandoned caves, mysterious depressions, and even cemeteries where it eats human flesh. The Ghoul's favorite delicacy was the meat of children and women, which he first stole and killed so that he could eat them. In order to confuse the wanderers, they kindled false fires, which tempted the wanderers and led them into a trap.
