Defining nouns and adjectives and a preposition
Defining nouns and adjectives in Arabic is extremely simple. To define a word, two letters should be added to it at the beginning. In Arabic, this function is performed by the preposition defined ال (‘al). It is used in every number, person and kind. Where a word is specified in the nominative, genitive and accusative respectively, the ends shall change from “-un” to “-u”, from “-in” to “-i”, from “-an” to “-a”.
Which words are definied?
The easiest way to indicate a specific word is to see at the beginning of the word ال, but there are three other ways to identify/recognize a specific word. The second way is by proper names. Names, names of cities, rivers, countries will always be defined. The third way is an added suffixed pronoun. I’m going to write more about pronouns soon. The fourth way is idafa. The first part of idafa is always defined and can occur in any case.
